Hello All and Happy Thursday! It’s been a while since I got a new post up so in honor of football season starting tonight (Go Pack Go!) I’m going to put up the recipe for my Grandpa’s famous Bourbon Dogs! These delicious little numbers were made for football games and any large gatherings as they are as simple and tasty as can be… Especially if you like Bourbon and sausage!

A funny little side note on these my Grandpa made them for nearly all our family gatherings growing up and I remember my cousin and I would eat a bunch then run around pretending we were drunk for the next couple hours. Looking back though Papa did put a LOT of Bourbon in so who knows maybe we were a couple buzzed little 7 years olds…. Just kidding!

Papa’s Bourbon Dogs


2 packages Hillshire Farm cocktail links (AKA lil smokies)

2 cups Bourbon – I prefer Jim Beam for this recipe

1 cup dark brown sugar

3 1/2 cups Ketchup

1 cup grated white onion

First take a shot of the bourbon to “test it”, this is something my Grandpa required! Next combine all the ingredients into a slow cooker (if you don’t have one use a big deep pot) and simmer on low for at least 2 hours then serve. Easiest with these is to just put out some small paper plates and toothpicks for service. Enjoy and GO PACKERS!
